Summary
This VIP retunes DeviationSentinel deviation thresholds from the initial uniform 10% (established in VIP-590, VIP-613, and VIP-616) to volatility-matched tiers — 1% for stablecoins, 3% for wrapped and ratio-fed assets, and 10% retained for volatile majors — and extends DeviationSentinel coverage to three previously-unwired BSC markets (TWT, BCH, AAVE) at 10%. A total of 44 commands are dispatched across BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum One, and Base.
Description
DeviationSentinel monitors each market’s oracle price against a DEX spot reference. When the deviation exceeds the configured threshold it blocks the oracle update and signals the keeper to act. The prior uniform 10% threshold left stablecoins and ratio-fed wrappers with an effective monitoring gap: a 10% depeg on a stablecoin is well past the point of harm.
This VIP calibrates thresholds to three asset-class tiers:
| Tier | Threshold | Asset class |
|---|---|---|
| Stable | 1% | Stablecoins and fiat-pegged tokens |
| Wrapped / ratio-fed | 3% | BTC wrappers, LSTs, yield-bearing stablecoins |
| Volatile | 10% | Volatile majors (no on-chain change) |
